จำนวนผู้ป่วยโรคอ้วน
toโรคอ้วน คือ ภาวะที่ร่างกายมีการสะสมไขมันมากเกินกว่าปกติหรือมากเกินกว่าที่ร่างกายจะเผาผลาญ จึงสะสมพลังงานที่เหลือเอาไว้ในรูปของไขมันตามอวัยวะต่างๆ ซึ่งมีความเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดปัญหาสุขภาพ และเป็นสาเหตุของการเกิดโรคเรื้อรังต่างๆ ตามมา รู้ได้อย่างไรว่าเป็น “โรคอ้วน” วิธีวัดไขมันมีหลายรูปแบบ โดยที่นิยมกันคือ การวัดจากดัชนีมวลกาย หรือ Body Mass Index – BMI และการตรวจวัดรอบเอว โดยทั่วไปแล้ว ควรมีค่า BMI อยู่ที่ระหว่าง 18.5-22.9 kg/m2 หากมากหรือน้อยกว่านี้ จะเกิดภาวะทุพโภชนาการและโรคต่างๆ ค่า BMI < 18.5 – 22.9 kg/m² เรียกว่า “ปกติ” ค่า BMI 23.0 – 24.9 kg/m² เรียกว่า “น้ำหนักเกิน” ค่า BMI > 25 kg/m² เรียกว่า “โรคอ้วน”
